This article walks users through how to manage Access Requests.
ClearQuery allows users to request access to datasets and charts they do not have access to. When a user requests access it kicks off a workflow that is tracked within the Access Request page. This section of ClearQuery allows users to monitor “My Tasks” and “My Requests”. Users can navigate to this page by selecting the ✅ icon in the navigation menu. The page is broken into two tabs:
- My Tasks – items that are actionable by you. This includes any requests from other users for access to objects which you are listed as an owner.
- My Requests – items that you have initiated. This includes access requests you have made.
My Tasks:
When a user in your organization includes your username in a request, you will receive an email notification stating the requestor and the requested object. An example of what this tab looks like is below:
Here the requestor (Demo6) is requesting access to the “ecommerce_csv2” dataset. If the user clicks on the Label for that request, they can see additional information pertaining to it (request and object details), such as the justification. Once the user has reviewed all the provided information, they can make one of the following choices:
- Grant – provide access.
- Deny – do not provide access, the requestor will be able to request access again.
- Hide – remove the alert from the queue as the user might not be the right person to provision access to the requested object.
Once a selection is made, the requestor will receive a notification regarding the decision.
My Requests:
This tab shows the user the status of all the requests they have made:
Statuses include:
- Granted – access was approved.
- Denied – access was not approved.
- Cancelled – the requester canceled it. To cancel a request, select the trashcan icon associated with the request.
- Pending – a decision has not been reached.
Once the status is changed, the user will receive an email notifying them of the update.
