This article walks the reader through how Relationship Discovery works and how to use it.
Relationship Discovery is a feature within ClearQuery that allows users to see how various data points are connected via graphical representation.
As an example, if you are curious about how many degrees of separation there are between you and Kevin Bacon (assuming you have the appropriate dataset) you could upload that data into ClearQuery, select the appropriate fields ("Connections" & "Friends of Connections") and see for yourself:
To explore the relationships within your own data the user needs to configure two (2) fields:
- "Source field" - This field is the primary field the user wants to orient their data around.
- "Target field" - This field is the data the user wants to see as it relates to the source.
- Click "Show Relationships"
The relationship graph will render, and the user can then:
- Search for a specific node.
- Toggle the view between 2 and 3 Dimensions.
- Filter the results.
- Download a .png file of the graphic (see download icon in the top right).
Within the graph itself, the user can move / manipulate the graph by clicking and dragging specific nodes in 2 or 3 dimensions; as-well-as, rotate the graph as needed in 3-D:
- Left click - rotate.
- Right click – pan.
- Mouse wheel / two finger scroll – zoom.
Additionally, the user can obtain additional information about each node by hovering over it or selecting it. If selected, ClearQuery will display insights specific to that node and give the user the option to explore insights or view the source record. 🔵 1 ⬇️
Below the Relationship graphic, ClearQuery displays the Relationship Table which provides even more information about the displayed nodes. 2 🟣 ⬆️
