This article walks the user through the User Corner which includes the Notification Center, Tutorials, and User Settings
Located in the top right of the ClearQuery screen is the User Corner, which looks like:
From left to right the user has access to the following items which will be described in detail below:
- Notification Center
- Feature Tutorials
- User Menu
Notification Center:
The bell icon in the image above is where a user can access their Notification Center. Here the user will see their timeline of activities and any alerts they have received. An example screenshot of a user Notification Center can be see below:
The Notification Center loads into the user’s timeline which shows a variety of events, in the provided image above you can see that it displays two sample events where user: "Demo2" provided the current user access to two datasets. Clicking on the timeline event will take the user to the highlighted item.
Next to the Timeline tab is the Alerts Tab, here users can view, edit, and create alerts. This section is designed for users to see the Alert Menu > Alert Details > Triggering Events > Data Records. The Alert Menu shows the users all the Alerts that fall within their purview:
The Alerts page displays the following information:
- Alert Name
- Owners – users that can manage the alert.
- Dataset – the datasets that are monitored in the alert (can be dataset specific or Cross Dataset).
- Status – Active or Disabled
To see more information about the alert, click on the alert name which is highlighted in blue. The “Alert Details” page will load, which looks like the image below:
This page shows the description of the alert as well as the triggered events. Starting from the top of the screen, the Alert Details page provides the following information:
- Alert Name
- Status: Active vs Disabled
- Triggered Events: a list of all the events that have occurred since this alert was created.
- Dataset Details: a list of all the datasets covered by the alert, this table provides the following information:
- Dataset Name
- Dataset Tags
- Latest Hit: Of all the rows of data containing the search term this is the most recent timestamp determined by the dataset’s Primary Date field.
- Last Event: The date the search term was last detected in this dataset.
- Last Ingest: This is the last time data was imported into CQ for this dataset. For instances where the dataset does not have an ingest date, the system will use the primary date field which is configured by the dataset’s admin.
- Last Scan: The last time CQ checked this dataset for the search term.
- Followers: Users who receive notifications regarding this alert.
- Owners: Users who can edit, disable, and remove this alert.
When an alert is triggered, ClearQuery will send notifications to all users listed as “Followers” of the alert. The alerts are sent via email as well as through the interface, which is displayed as a badge over the alert icon in the top right of the screen, as example is listed below:
The alert badge can be cleared by clicking the “X” icon under recent events to the right of the event name.
When clicking into a recent event, the system will take the user to the Event Details page which shows the user what happened within the dataset that triggered the notification.
Here the user is presented with the following information:
- Alert name and date of trigger.
- Dataset
- Latest Trigger Date (Primary Date Field within the dataset record)
- Trigger Value – configured during alert creation.
- Event Trigger Limit – configured during alert creation.
- View Automated Insights: This button will take the user to Automated Insights with a filter that corresponds to the alert Trigger.
- Email Notification Sent: List of usernames that were notified of the triggered event.
User Tutorials:
For the main features, ClearQuery is preconfigured to provide users with step by step walkthroughs of how to navigate the feature. Users will be prompted to view the tutorials the first time they navigate to each feature. If the user wants to view the tutorial again in the future, they can select the “?” in the User Corner.
Each tutorial is a combination of orange navigation boxes and highlighted sections within the feature. Users can follow along to learn how to use the core functionality of each feature. As you will notice, each tutorial displays how many steps are involved, so the user can keep track of their progress.
To exit a tutorial, click anywhere in the shaded area. The system will confirm the user wants to exit the tutorial and display a reminder that the tutorials can be reinitiated at any time.
User Menu
In the top right corner of the screen, ClearQuery has a dropdown where the username is displayed. This drop-down menu includes:
- User Settings – More information provided below
- Support – e-mail support
- Logout
User Settings:
This page has two tabs, Password Reset and Notification Settings:
Password Reset
This feature allows the user to change their password and configure notification settings.
Should the need arise, a user can change or reset their password in multiple different ways depending on the circumstance:
To manually change a user password
- Click on “User Settings” in the Feature Navigation Bar.
- The user is required to enter the current password.
- Enter a new password.
- Click “Set Password”.
Forgotten Password
If the user does not remember their password, a password reset link can be requested from the login screen:
1. On the login screen, select “Click here” to reset the user’s password.2. Enter the username for the account the user is requesting the password reset for and click on “Request Password Reset”.
3. An email will be sent to the user’s email address on file. Once the email is received, click “Reset Password”.
Note: if the user has reset their password in the past, please make sure the user is viewing the most recent email sent by the system and not a previous one as that link will have expired.
4. Enter and confirm the new password.
5. Click “Set Password”
Password Reset: Admin Assistance
The organization’s Admin can also initiate a password reset via the Organization Settings page:
- Next to the applicable user’s name, click the “Action” button.
- Select “Reset Password”
An email will automatically be sent to the user’s email address on file to reset the password.
Notification Settings
ClearQuery provides email-based notifications to users for several items. The notification settings page is broken into 5 sections:
- User’s email address – display purposes only.
- Newsletter frequency – Newsletters provide fresh insights about the user’s data. This can be configured as weekly, monthly, or never.
- Notification frequency – this can be configured to be immediate, daily summary, or weekly summary and include updates such as:
- Saved Searches
- Charts
- Datasets
- Data Sources
- Layouts
- Users (admin only)
- Comments
- Default Subscription Preferences (e-mail / timeline):
- “Subscribe to all future updates and notify via email.”
- “Show future updates in the timeline, but don’t email me.”
- “Don’t notify me unless I am mentioned directly.”
- Data Subscription Preference – the user can set notification preferences on a per dataset basis or configure them all to be the same.
